SGR211

On the Ordinance passed by Government of India - Capital Punishment to Rapists.
Capital punishment for rapists has become an inevitable necessity. Bitter truth. However, one should note that it doesn't address prevention in a positive attitude. Fear of death would reduce the crime; however, will not stop the one who has decided self-extermination. This will not stop the one who has lost every hope of life. A larger & heavier stick will control with force; but psychological reformation in attitude?
Death for child rapists will definitely curtail the instance of crime; & at the same time; responsible people, associations, formal & informal groups must focus on efforts to educate and instill human values - the factual perception that everyone are humans alike; in young minds. Everyone instilling the idea that feminine mortal frames are objects of sexual gratification must refrain doing so. Movies especially. Vulgarity in movies have surpassed to an extent that we have failed to remember that the visuals & dialogues are vulgar.
During my childhood days, we did not have TV or computers or mobiles or internet; the Kathakalaskhebam in temples - narration of stories on the divine proved to provide a profound impetus in instilling moral values. Even today, Media & Technology must embrace this age old art form of Kathakalaskhebam & use them as tools to remind everyone the value system of Sanathana Dharma.
Lessons in history provide narrations of the past in a story format, just like the puranic tales in Kathakalashkebam; however, the information on results of good/bad deeds is missing in history that is found in Puranas. The Puranas are not to be made fun of; because, no human will could have made the Ramayana & Mahabharatha known the world over as is today, unless & otherwise it has actually occurred in history.
If every media take up the responsibility of explaining the moral values of Ramayana & Mahabharatha in audio format with a person narrating it; instead of visuals; highlighting pros & cons of human actions; would benefit the society in a significant manner. The focus of viewers when watching the serials as visuals - Ramayana & Mahabharatha - gets distracted easily & totally to all other extravagant aspects other than pondering over the central gospel of the Epics.
Death for child rapists would curtail those who have been totally corrupted by the society - yes corrupted by the society. However, positive efforts must & would focus on kids who still provide us hope on them becoming a responsible citizens.
One should understand with clarity, the factor of differentiation in rape as a crime, from other crimes. The carnal urge is the fundamental substratum of the crime. It is elementary, unavoidable & inextinguishable. Hence lone long penal stick is insufficient.
Every responsible person should support this penal restraint of crime with social reformation initiatives that inculcate the quality of humanity & human values in every child. These would be positive reinforcement that would lessen the burden of penal restraint. Every responsible person should think of collective efforts to inculcate moral values in kids to respect the people of opposite gender in particular, & everyone in general; perceiving them to be as human as one is.
We as a society should be ashamed of ourselves to have degraded to an extent that we have made it an inevitable demand that a penal punishment of the extreme nature curtail our immorality. It is our responsibility to unite as self-organised teams and chart out plans & steps to raise the bar of our own collective human values. The monarchical layers of our society have done their possible; and imagine, if it does not curtail the crime.... then?
