The real celebration of Deepavali is not in bursting crackers, eating sweets and watching movies; but in taking every effort in our limited capacity to bring about a positive change in the lives of the suffering and the needy. Service executed in the good of humanity termed charity, is precisely the substratum and crux of every activity as decreed by Sanathana Dharma. Deepavali is the day of celebrating one's own yearlong efforts of charity.
Incidentally, Deepavali is celebrated on the day of Amavasya - the new moon day. As decreed by the Sanathana Dharma, Amavasya is the day when one offers food to deceased ancestors every month in a year - the best form of charity that aims to bring solace to one's ancestors wherever they may be; in whatever form. Deepavali is the anniversary celebration of the efforts of charity of every human being within one's own limited capacity. Prudence is in celebrating this anniversary of charity by focusing our festive spending on efforts that benefit humanity.
Hail Deepavali!

We humans must develop the ability to perceive the positives in any given situation to remain optimistic and sanguine. He who derives pleasure out of other's suffering is a demon; one who allows others to suffer when he too is suffering is a lowlife; he who takes every effort to remove the obstacles and sufferings of others in spite of his own misfortune is divine.

The Bhagavad Gita was discoursed by the Guru - Sree Krishna to the disciple - Arjuna in the battlefield. The war was between justice and injustice with tension prevailing around, building up muscle and strength with every passing second.
Uncertainty of life prevailed explicitly in the battlefield; in spite of which the Guru chose to impart the eternal wisdom to the disciple. It is sheer common sense to understand that at such a location - the war front, where remained no guarantee to life, Arjuna - the disciple surrendered unto Krishna to acquire the eternal wisdom; setting aside any kind of importance to any other element; even life. Hence the importance accorded to the Bhagavad Gita.
The mere situational reference of Bhagavad Gita clarifies that eternal wisdom is precious than any element of materialistic pursuits of life; even life as it is! Hence the reason for the Bhagavad Gita to display unique divinity and consummate fame.

Any effort of charity would secure complete merits only when the beneficiary's mind is satisfied without any element of incertitude.
Hunger is the root cause of all malice! A hungry stomach surpasses every moral sense of ethics & intellect even to commit a heinous crime for want of food & water!
Consuming food is the only activity when a person would naturally and effortlessly say, "enough, not anymore"; and that would complete the effort of the benefactor to its fullest capacity.
The cooked food provided cannot be stored unreasonably; negating the possibility of any vile or improper selfish motives.
The best effort of charity is to feed the poor, innocent kids below the age of eighteen. These kids have not yet attained the age to work and earn a living; hence justified.
Also, the activity involved - providing food to kids - is positive reinforcement, wherein both the beneficiary and the benefactor meet with a mind filled with cordiality, pleasance and amiability, diffusing warmth and friendliness; unlike treating a child in hospital.
The intention of treating a child in hospital is to save the life of the kid. Food is the only substance that keeps the body and soul of a person united. No other substance, however costly or pricey can. Hence, feeding poor innocent kids also radiate the same lofty intention.
Treating a child in a hospital requires the benefactor to possess a certain degree of affluence; but feeding innocent kids can definitely be executed by every human being to the extent of one's affluence - at least one kid per day?!??
Small drops of water unite to form a huge water body. If every adult focus on feeding at least one kid per day; would make a huge difference.
The resultant environment too is filled with positive vibrations - the donor and the receiver are in a happy and positive state of mind; unlike in a hospital where it is natural for fear and aloofness to surround us.
Also, instead of providing money to some organisation to feed kids, one can prepare food at home and provide it to kids directly with one's own hands. The resultant satisfaction experienced by the benefactor is enormous when one perceives the peace and rejuvenation in the face of the beneficiary.
My only appeal to every passerby of this blog is the determination to feed at least one stomach per day that is not related to us.
One meal, one stomach, one day; everyday, but unrelated. The best and easiest way to earn the maximum merits in life.

Objective of charity is to root out evil that crops up in a person's mind due to one's inability to meet the basic essential demands of life. Result expected out of the efforts of charity is removal of malice and hatred in a society that has cropped up due to the inability of people to meet even the essential requirement to stay alive.
Desires must be quenched out of one's own efforts; never through the charity of another person. The reason being, desires can never be quenched by satisfying them. It is similar to pouring fuel on fire to extinguish it. Sheer stupidity. A clear understanding and proper focus is essential before commencing any act in the good of the society - termed charity.
Charity - Help them stay alive. Full stop. Let them satisfy their desires out of their efforts. This is real assistance. Basic essential need of humans - Food, Clothing, Shelter - to stay alive. Provide directly. Any other desire, assist indirectly. When desires are quenched out of one's own efforts, they are elevated psychologically in the first place; else they keep looking at others.
Charity begins at one's own mortal frame. Minimise wants. Lead a life as simple as possible with minimal material comfort. Minimise dependence on money for peace of mind. The focus of charity must be on life sustenance factors and never desires. Providing food directly would save one's life; granting elasticity that one may learn how to earn a living.
Death is inevitable. Sufferings of a person is based on one's accumulated Karma. The objective of body is to exhaust Karma. Hence sustenance of body is essential. When charity focuses on this, this alone; makes sense. Providing medical aid as effort of charity is reasonable for the body is incapable of self effort due to affliction of disease; hence justified.
